■ A survey done in England showed that approximately 99% of British women did not know that there was a link between smoking and cervical cancer.

■ A survey done in China showed that 60% of Chinese adults did not know that smoking causes lung cancer. That same survey showed that 96% did not know that smoking caused heart disease.

■ 75% of chronic bronchitis cases are connected to smoking.

■ 25% of heart disease deaths are connected to smoking.

■ It costs the United States $150 billion per year to deal with diseases related to smoking.

■ The amount of smokers in the world will amount to 1 billion.

■ The use of tobacco products is decreasing in high income countries, but increasing in the developing countries.

■ Approximately half of the children of the world are victims of second hand smoke.

■ Approximately 5.4 million people die each year from tobacco products and it is estimated that by the year 2030, 8 million will die per year.
